The Mansehra district administration has temporarily banned tourists from travelling to Lake Saif-ul-Muluk in Naran due to heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides.
According to police, the road leading to the lake has been closed to all types of traffic on the instructions of the Mansehra deputy commissioner.
Authorities said the restriction would remain in place until weather conditions improve. The lake road will be reopened to tourists once it is declared safe for travel.
The Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has also urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from sensitive tourist destinations and areas at risk of flooding, and follow alerts and advisories issued by government institutions.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Authority has also advised tourists to check weather conditions before travelling and carry essential supplies.
According to the authority, heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms may trigger flash floods, overflowing streams, landslides and travel disruptions in Upper Chitral, Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Mohmand, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Kurram, Hangu, Orakzai, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, North Waziristan and South Waziristan.
The authority has urged residents, tourists and travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys, closely monitor weather updates and follow the instructions of relevant departments. In case of an emergency, the public has been advised to immediately contact the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Helpline at 1422.
