The law enforcement agencies, including the FIA, in a combined operation arrested two NADRA officials and four others involved in the issuing of illegal documents to Afghan nationals in Karachi, the private media outlet reported on Wednesday.
According to the spokesperson of NADRA, the accused include NADRA Assistant Director Inam-ul-Haq, NADRA Deputy Assistant Director Fayyaz Ahmed, a watchman, and an agent, Muhammad Umar Shah.
The FIA authorities confirmed that the record and other evidence have been recovered from the accused, adding that further investigation is underway.
The authorities also said that some other individuals linked to the case can also be arrested.
The FIA spokesperson also said that the accused were involved in the issuance of ID cards to Afghan citizens and other illegal activities.
FIA officials said the network has been found to have links with terrorist elements, and further investigations are underway.

Earlier, the interior ministry ordered authorities, including police and law enforcement agencies, to launch a crackdown on Afghan citizens across Pakistan who do not have a valid visa, the private media outlet reported on Monday.
The ministry issued a letter on July 28, instructing authorities and law enforcement agencies from four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure the arrest of all Afghan citizens without a valid visa.
The ministry stated that “with effect from 10 July, 2026, any Afghan national found residing in Pakistan without a valid visa shall be arrested immediately.”
