Veteran Pakistani television actors Saba Hameed and Waseem Abbas have officially ended their marriage after 29 years.
The news came to light when Waseem Abbas confirmed the divorce during a recent television interview, revealing that the couple had been living separately for nearly 14 years before formally ending their relationship.
The celebrated actors, who have remained prominent figures in Pakistani television, maintained their professional commitments despite their personal differences. Waseem Abbas shared that the separation was handled with mutual understanding and respect.
According to Waseem Abbas, although their marriage lasted nearly three decades, the couple had been living separately for around 14 years before formally ending their relationship. He explained that they maintained mutual respect and continued to share a professional connection despite their personal differences.
The actors, both highly respected figures in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, were known for their work in television dramas and their on-screen presence. Their separation had been the subject of public speculation for years, but the official confirmation came only recently through Waseem Abbas’s interview.
Waseem Abbas said there were no hard feelings between them and that they could still work together if offered a suitable project. He emphasised that their relationship ended with dignity and respect rather than conflict.
The announcement has drawn attention from fans across Pakistan, many of whom expressed surprise and sadness over the end of a long-standing celebrity marriage.
In a recent interview, Wasim Abbas revealed that when he married Saba Hameed for the second time, he already had four children, two of whom were his own, and he did not feel the need to have more children. Their marriage lasted for twenty-nine years before they eventually got divorced.
He now feels that perhaps getting married for the second time was a mistake. According to him, they had started living separately ten to twelve years before the divorce. Although they would occasionally meet, there was a growing distance between them. Eventually, they both realised that there was no point in continuing a marriage like that.
He honestly stated that he does not regret the divorce because respect is more important than love, and when respect is missing from a relationship, it is better for it to come to an end.
After their divorce, he was offered a role alongside Saba Hameed in the film Just Be With You. He agreed to do the project, but later became seriously ill and could not perform the role. That role is now being played by Faran Tahir.
Wasim Abbas added that they still respect each other and have no issues working together. He said there is no bitterness between them and he does not feel sad about the end of their relationship.
