Amid rising fuel prices worldwide, motorists may find hope in a remarkable new invention a vehicle capable of traveling more than 900 kilometres on just one litre of fuel.
As increasing fuel costs and supply concerns continue to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, most people still rely on conventional fuel powered cars and are constantly looking for ways to reduce fuel expenses.
In a breakthrough development, a student has designed an ultra efficient vehicle that can cover more than 900 kilometres using only one litre of fuel.
According to international media reports, the student is from the US state of Utah and created the unique vehicle using an extremely lightweight, compact and aerodynamic design that significantly reduces fuel consumption.
The car, named Super Mileage weighs just 49 kilograms and features a tiny 30 millilitre fuel tank only slightly larger than a standard test tube.
The vehicle was developed for a fuel efficiency competition in which teams compete to travel the greatest possible distance using the least amount of fuel.
The car can travel approximately 32 kilometres on just 30 millilitres of fuel before requiring a refill. Based on this performance, it is capable of achieving an estimated fuel efficiency of around 914 kilometres per litre.
Due to its unique design, the vehicle also has strict driver requirements. The single seat car can only accommodate a driver with a maximum height of 5 feet 4 inches and a weight of up to 54 kilograms.
Electric bikes in short supply as rising fuel prices push buyers to switch
A sharp rise in petrol prices is driving more people in Pakistan towards electric scooters and bikes, creating shortages and longer waiting times in the local market.
Dealers say demand has jumped quickly in recent weeks, as fuel costs make daily travel harder for many households. For low income commuters, running a petrol bike is becoming difficult, which has made electric options more attractive.
