New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani has given a strong reaction, declaring the military attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran as illegal aggression, and said that war is unacceptable under any circumstances.
In his detailed message issued on the social networking website X, he said that the attacks carried out on Iran amount to a dangerous escalation in an illegal war campaign, the consequences of which could be devastating not only for the region but for the peace of the entire world.
He stated that the bombing of cities and the massacre of unarmed civilians are contrary to any international law and human values.
He made it clear that the opening of a new front would further increase global tensions and would directly affect ordinary citizens.
According to him, the American people do not want another war for regime change, but rather peace, stability, and a diplomatic solution.
The mayor said that the solution to global conflicts lies not in the use of force but in negotiations and adherence to international laws.
He urged the international community to play a role in an immediate ceasefire and in reducing tensions.
Security tightened in New York
The New York mayor announced the tightening of security in the city, stating that he is in continuous contact with the New York Police Commissioner and officials of New York City Emergency Management.
Patrols at sensitive locations have been increased and surveillance systems are being further activated.
He said that citizens of Iranian origin are an important part of New York’s social and economic fabric, and any form of hate or discrimination will not be tolerated.
The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority, and every possible measure will be taken.
Concern at the global level
This statement by Zohran Mamdani makes it clear that there is also serious disagreement within American domestic politics regarding external military actions.
Human rights circles have also expressed deep concern over potential civilian casualties and have called for an immediate ceasefire.
