A shopkeeper was shot and injured in Lahore after allegedly refusing to activate a mobile phone package for a customer, police said.
According to the private media outlet, the Manga Mandi Police arrested the suspect, identified as Sajid Bhatti alias Saji, and recovered a weapon from his possession. A case of attempted murder has also been registered based on the victim’s statement.
In his complaint, the shopkeeper said he runs a mobile phone top-up and package shop in Talab Sarai. He claimed the suspect had called him to activate a mobile phone package, but he was away from the shop at the time and was unable to process the request.
The complainant alleged that the suspect later arrived at the shop, argued with him and opened fire, leaving him injured before fleeing the scene.
Police said the suspect was later arrested and an investigation is under way.
In a separate incident earlier this week, Lahore Police arrested a man accused of throwing acid on his former wife in the city’s Badami Bagh area.
According to the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), the victim remains under treatment in hospital after suffering injuries to her lips, eyes and throat. Police registered a case against the suspect after recording the woman’s statement.
