Rawalpindi lawyers will soon have better public transport facilities, according to reports on Wednesday. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) has agreed to improve 10 Green Bus routes and add 10 new buses.
When will the buses for Rawalpindi lawyers start?
Officials said the new buses are likely to start running by the end of this week. The service will help lawyers travel between their homes and the district courts.
The decision was made after a meeting between the RTA and members of the District Bar Association. The delegation included Bar President Malik Sajid Mahmood, Tariq Awan and Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry.
What is the new transport service?
The new buses will make daily travel easier for lawyers. Many lawyers travel to the district courts regularly and face transport problems.
The new service is expected to provide a safer and more reliable way to reach the courts.
Better health facilities
Authorities are also working to improve medical facilities at the district courts. The court dispensary and health centre are being upgraded.
The upgraded facilities will provide better medical care to lawyers and other people at the courts.
Officials said the new transport and health measures will help improve basic facilities at the Rawalpindi district courts.
1,500 e-buses to hit the roads
Separately, the Punjab government has decided to start electric bus services in every tehsil across the province. The service will first be expanded to the tehsil level after being introduced at the divisional and district levels.
The tehsil-level service is expected to start in January 2027. Around 1,500 electric buses will run across 91 tehsils.
The government has also approved separate bus depots for each tehsil. The first batch of buses is expected to arrive in Lahore in January 2027.
The Chief Minister has also approved more electric buses for different districts.
Punjab plans to have 3,000 electric buses running across the province by June 2027. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by September.
