Atleast 14 people including women and children died and many others were injured in a road accident in Sargodha due to heavy fog early Saturday morning.
According to rescue sources, 23 people were traveling in a mini truck near Gulpur Bangla area of Tehsil Kot Momin of Sargodha, but due to reduced visibility due to heavy fog, the mini truck went off the road and fell into a dry canal.
Seven people died on the spot after being crushed under the truck. Rescue personnel shifted the bodies and other seriously injured people to THQ Hospital, where another seven people died during treatment.
The deceased include six children, five women and three men. The accident victims were on their way from Islamabad to Faisalabad tto attend a funeral
Dence fog again covered different areas of the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the night between Friday and Saturday, affecting normal life and causing traffic disruptions on motorways due to reduced visibility, a private media outlet reported.
The intense fog has been disrupting the flow of road traffic in several cities of Punjab and KP.
Officials also urged citizens to plan daytime travel, saying visibility remains better between 10:00am and 6:00pm.
