Trials for Pakistan women's netball team set for June 7 in Karachi

The Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF), in partnership with the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), will hold one-day open trials to select the national women’s netball team on June 7 at the PSB Coaching Centre in Karachi.

PNF President Sameen Malik confirmed that the trials will start at 5:00 pm and mentioned that preparations are in full swing to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Female netball players from all over the country are expected to take part, and all affiliated provincial associations, regional bodies, and departmental teams have been instructed to nominate and support eligible players.

The players chosen from these trials will represent Pakistan at the Asian Women’s Netball Championship, which is set to take place from August 7 to 16 in Hong Kong.

Champion and runner up to qualify for Netball World Cup 2027

This year, the championship is particularly important as it also serves as the Asian qualifying round for the Netball World Cup, scheduled for 2027 in Australia.

According to World Netball (WN) rules, only the champion and runner-up of the championship will qualify for the prestigious event in Australia.

The championship is expected to include some of Asia’s top netball nations, such as Singapore, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, India, Maldives, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Bahrain, Thailand, South Korea, and the host nation, Hong Kong, along with Pakistan.

The federation is hopeful that the open trials will help discover talented players and train the national team ahead of what is expected to be a crucial continental competition with a valuable World Cup spot at stake.
