Jirga leaders unite against TTP announce tribal mobilisation

A large public jirga was held in Malik Painda Khan Kili, attended by tribal elders, community leaders, and a large number of residents. The jirga was chaired by Malik Painda Khan, and participants unanimously adopted a strong stance against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), announcing the formation of a lashkar (tribal force) against the militant group.

Addressing the gathering, Malik Painda Khan said the time had come for decisive action against terrorism. He announced that they would stand shoulder to shoulder with the State of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army and play every possible role in the fight against the TTP.

Referring to the case of Salman Bazai, Malik Painda Khan expressed deep sorrow and grief. “Our young man, Salman Bazai, was killed, but the injustice did not end there. Twenty-eight days have passed, and his body still lies in the mountains. He has neither been given a burial shroud nor allowed to be laid to rest. We have been denied the right to bury our own son,” he said.

He further stated that terrorists had made life unbearable for local residents on their own land. “Our homes were destroyed, we were forced to leave our areas, and our families were displaced. When you did not allow us to live peacefully on our own land, we will not allow you to live in peace either,” he added.

Tribal elders and residents participating in the jirga expressed full support for Malik Painda Khan’s stance and announced their unity against the TTP. The participants pledged collective resistance against terrorist elements and vowed to take all possible measures to restore peace in the area.

At the conclusion of the jirga, participants unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the struggle against terrorism and extending full cooperation to state institutions.
