Punjab Chief Minister (CM), Maryam Nawaz Sharif, formally launches ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar Scheme’, a major welfare scheme for landless farmers.
The scheme will provide the landless farmers with their own land.
Under the scheme, thousands of families will be provided with agricultural seeds worth lakhs of rupees.
The project aims to eradicate unemployment in rural areas and boost the agricultural sector.
According to government estimates, approximately Rs160 billion has been allocated for this scheme.
The scheme will help a large number of deserving individuals.
88,780 families will benefit through 13,812 agricultural lots in different districts
101,111 families have been given employment opportunities from the distribution of 16,685 lots in the Cholistan area.

A level of financial assistance of up to Rs50,000 to Rs50,000 per acre will be provided for resettlement.
A total of more than 144,000 acres will be provided under the project.

Under the scheme, the land will be leased for ten years and used only for agricultural purposes, while no solid construction of any kind will be allowed.
Growers will be able to grow crops of their choice, and with each lot, guidance from agricultural experts will be provided to make increased yields possible.
Individuals interested in applying can submit online applications from May 2 to May 18, when the final list will be issued on June 14, and the land allotment process will begin on June 30.
Officials say that if the number of applicants is higher, the selection will be conducted transparently by lot.
