Mild earthquake tremors were felt in several suburban areas of Karachi on Friday afternoon. The earthquake measured 2.9 on the Richter scale.
According to reports, residents in Shah Latif Town, Bhains Colony, Bin Qasim, Gadap, Landhi and nearby areas felt the ground shake.
According to the seismic monitoring centre, the earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres. Its epicentre was in Karachi.
Many people came out of their homes in fear after the tremors. No casualties or property damage were reported.
Earthquake in Swat
Back on July 28, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck Swat. The earthquake caused brief panic among residents. However, no casualties or property damage were reported.
According to the Seismological Centre and the district administration, the earthquake occurred at 12:40 PM. Its epicentre was at a depth of 166 kilometres.
The tremors were felt in several parts of Swat. Some residents came out of their homes and workplaces as a safety precaution.
Officials said the situation remained normal after the earthquake, with no reports of injuries or damage.
Authorities continued to monitor the area and advised residents to stay alert and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks.
Before that, on July 19, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Quetta late at night. No casualties or property damage were reported.
According to the Seismological Centre and the district administration, the earthquake occurred at 11:27 PM. It had a depth of 15 kilometres and its epicentre was about 37 kilometres northeast of Quetta.
