Earthquake tremors felt in parts of Balochistan

A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Quetta late on Saturday night, triggering brief panic among residents. However, authorities confirmed that no casualties or property damage were reported.

According to the Seismological Centre and the district administration, the earthquake occurred at 11:27 p.m. The tremor originated at a depth of 15 kilometres, with its epicentre located about 37 kilometres northeast of Quetta.

The quake was felt across several parts of the provincial capital, prompting some residents to temporarily evacuate their homes and workplaces as a precaution.

Officials said the situation remained normal after the tremors, with no reports of injuries or structural damage.

Authorities continue to monitor the area and have urged residents to stay vigilant and follow safety precautions in case of any aftershocks.

Earlier, an earthquake was felt in Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 01-07-2026, prompting residents to leave their homes and offices as the tremors were experienced across the region. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.3.

According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt in the federal capital as well as Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Shangla, Kurram and Buner.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.

Authorities are monitoring the situation, while details regarding the earthquake’s magnitude, depth and epicentre are awaited from the relevant seismic monitoring agencies.

Prior to this, earthquake tremors were felt in several areas of Balochistan, Pakistan. According to the Seismological Centre, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 occurred at a depth of 17 kilometres. The epicentre was located 60 kilometres northeast of Kohlu district.

Tremors were felt in Kohlu district as well as in Zhob, Barkhan, and Rakhni. According to the Seismological Centre, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 60 kilometres northeast of Kohlu.
