FIR registered against Achakzai for provocative speech in Chaman

An FIR has been registered against the opposition leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai for his provocative speech on May 29 in Chaman, a highly sensitive border area.

According to the media report, the FIR against Achakzai was a mandatory action to protect public order in a sensitive border area, Chaman.

Chaman is an area where ethnic tensions exist, and it’s a safe haven for multiple drug lords. However, Achakzai, during his speech, referred to BLA terrorists as “freedom fighters.” He also praised BLA terrorists who only speak the language of bullets.

Mahmood Achakzai is famous for his anti-state agendas, and he knows how to wrap those agendas in the sheet of politics. He knows very well how to paint BLA terrorists as freedom fighters. On the other hand, Achakzai is aware of the fact that BLA terrorists are involved in the attacks on several civilians and state infrastructure in Balochistan.

It is pertinent to mention that these provoking remarks will not benefit Baloch or Pashtun but normalise violence and destabilise state institutions.

Free speech does not protect terrorists or allow anyone to incite unrest in sensitive areas. The state has registered the FIR to carry out its responsibility of preventing hatred from turning into violence.

Pakistan will not accept any leader who describes terrorists as “freedom fighters” while ordinary citizens continue to suffer. By taking action against Achakzai, the authorities have made it clear that no one is above the law when it comes to threatening national integrity and public safety.
