The government employees who will be on duty on the polling day at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections 2026 cast their votes earlier on Sunday.
The authorities have reported that the process concluded peacefully, without any kind of disruption or violence.
According to officials, voting took place from 8:00am to 5:00pm at designated polling stations across the region.
In Rawalakot Division, excluding Rawalakot and Sudhnoti districts, 4,278 votes were cast at four legislative assembly constituencies across two districts.
In Mirpur Division, 12,041 votes were cast across 13 constituencies in three districts, while Muzaffarabad Division recorded 7,721 votes at nine constituencies across three districts.
Officials said all sealed ballot boxes and election materials were handed over to the respective Returning Officers in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
The votes cast during the advance polling will be counted on the scheduled election day, when the official results are announced.
Political parties also established camps outside polling locations to assist their supporters during the voting process.

AJK Election Commission completes arrangements
The AJK Election Commission has completed all preparations for the upcoming general elections, according to recent reports. Polling for all 45 seats of the AJK Legislative Assembly will be held on July 27, 2026.
The Election Commission said that it has made all necessary arrangements to ensure the elections are peaceful, fair and transparent.
A total of 846 candidates are contesting the elections. There are 3,804,368 registered voters. These include 2,001,653 men and 1,802,715 women.
Out of the 45 seats, 33 are for residents of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. And 12 are reserved for refugees who are living in Pakistan.
To help the voters, the Election Commission has set up 6,983 polling stations and 10,913 polling booths across the region.
Officials also said that all the preparations have been completed and the election process is ready to begin.
