A big relief by Punjab traffic police have announced for motorcyclists by simplifying the process of getting a driving license.
As per the spokesperson, providing major convenience to citizens motorcycle riders can now receive both learner and regular driving licenses on the same day.
Statistics show that during the current year, a total of 2.354 million licenses were issued to motorcyclists across Punjab, while more than 1 million citizens obtained regular driving licenses. Additionally, over 671,000 people renewed their learner and regular licenses, and more than 710,000 individuals benefited from learner facilities.
DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir stated that a large number of traffic accidents involve individuals who ride motorcycles without a valid license.
He warned that strict action is being taken against unlicensed drivers and urged citizens to obtain their driving licenses promptly to avoid heavy fines and legal consequences.
In a separate development, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) launched a digital facility to speed up and make the procedure for obtaining a driving licence more convenient for the citizens.
The issuing process for learner licences for LTV and HTV transport vehicles has been fully digitised.
The system enables applicants to fill their applications online from home. It has been developed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board with administrative support of the Transport Director and the Transport and Mass Transit Department.
The service is available on the Dastak mobile application.
The citizens can download the app, enter their details and make the necessary payment online. After digital verification, the learner licence is issued in a short amount of time.
Officials said more services would in future be moved to the internet to promote e-governance and to reduce delays.
The initiative would aim to eliminate long queues and make legal procedures easier for the public.
