The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has distributed 45 million rupees to the members of the national hockey team before they compete in the FIH Pro League.
This action is seen as a major boost to the players’ morale, with each player receiving 2.2 million rupees as part of the new financial package, according to PHF officials.
This total includes Rs700,000 for Pro League participation and Rs1.5 million as a special reward from the Prime Minister after Pakistan qualified for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.
PHF President Mohyuiddin Wani mentioned that the federation has made the unusual decision to release payments before the team leaves for an international event, highlighting its dedication to supporting players and enhancing their morale.
“This is the first time in PHF history that players have received financial incentives before a major international event,” he stated, adding that the PHF will keep supporting the players while working to eliminate administrative and operational challenges in the national sport.
The PHF leader also mentioned that players are receiving daily allowances of $110 for their participation in the Pro League.
He emphasised that hockey in the country is being managed with the Prime Minister’s guidance, aiming to restore Pakistan’s reputation in international hockey.
The national team is set to start its European campaign with Pro League matches against Belgium and Spain in Belgium from June 13 to 20. After that, they will head to England for matches against India and England from June 23 to 27.
