Islamabad to launch smart city security, monitoring system

Islamabad is expected to launch a major technology project soon under the Smart Islamabad Initiative, according to reports on Sunday. The step is expected to improve security and public services through a modern digital system.

According to the official details, a modern Fusion Centre will be established in the federal capital to improve coordination between important security and civic departments.

Reports say that the project will use advanced technologies. These include artificial intelligence (AI) systems and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, for real-time monitoring and quicker decision-making.

The system will combine data from different departments, includng Safe City Islamabad, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), onto one digital platform.

Officials have also said that this will help authorities respond more quickly to issues related to the city.

A new Command and Control Centre will also be developed under the project. Through this centre, authorities will be able to monitor the city using a single digital system.

During emergency situations, different institutions will be able to work together from one central point. This is expected to improve coordination and response time.

According to the details, the Smart Islamabad Initiative is an important step toward making the federal capital more connected, secure, and technology based.

Islamabad business hours to continue under existing policy

The district administration has declared a notification circulating on social media about changes in business hours in Islamabad as fake.

According to the officials, business timings in the federal capital will continue under the federal government policy as part of austerity measures.

The administration has also clarified that no new notification has been issued regarding business hours.

Authorities also said that the public should not trust or share unverified notifications circulating online.

Last month, the capital administration had also issued a revised notification setting new closing hours for markets, businesses, and more.
