The railway operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been suspended for a while due to heavy rains and flash floods that have caused damage to a railway bridge near Qila Sattar Shah. In addition, Pakistan Railways has rerouted the tracks of some trains and suspended a few others for a while.
Severe rains and floods from Qila Sheikhupura to Masan, resulting in compromised railway infrastructure, led the authorities to temporarily suspend train services on the Lahore-Faisalabad line.
Instead of the regular route from Faisalabad, the Karakoram Express (41 Up/42 Down) and Shalimar Express (27 Up/28 Down) will now go through cities of Raiwind, Sahiwal, and Khanewal.
Those travellers travelling on Karakoram Express (42 Down) from Faisalabad will be housed on Millat Express (18 Down) today.
In the meantime, Mianwali Express will be running from Lahore to Sargodha via Wazirabad and Lala Musa.
Pakistan Railways has also temporarily cancelled Badr Express (111 Up/112 Down) and Ghauri Express (113 Up/114 Down) due to the disruption.
The repair of the damaged bridge and railway track is ongoing according to the railway authorities. Once infrastructure is fully restored, train operations will be resumed.
It is advised to passengers to check the latest status of their trains before travelling. Due to the situation being closely monitored, the public will be kept updated as further developments arise, officials said.
