Pakistan cricket team captain Shaheen Shah Afridi has said that all fast bowlers in Pakistan are focused on improving their speed and performance.
Speaking at a press conference in Rawalpindi, Shaheen Afridi responded to a journalist in a light hearted way. The cricketer said that he would ‘bowl at 200 km/h for him’.
Shaheen said fast bowlers also need proper rest to perform well. He said that when a machine keeps running, it can also face problems. Further, he added that bowlers give their best when their bodies are fully rested.
He said every player needs to improve their game. Shaheen added that head coach Mike Hesson has likely spoken to the players about improving performance.
The Pakistan captain said every player in the squad is important. He added that selectors are trying to give chances to young players.
Babar Azam
Talking about Babar Azam, Shaheen said the star batter performed well in the PSL. He added that he remains the backbone of Pakistan’s ODI cricket team.
He said that the team has prepared well for the series against the Australian national cricket team and hopes Babar will continue his strong performances.
Meanwhile, Australia captain Josh Inglis praised Pakistan’s hospitality and said his team always enjoys visiting the country.
He said the upcoming series against Pakistan is expected to be a good contest.
The first ODI between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Rawalpindi tomorrow. The ODI series trophy was also officially unveiled ahead of the match.
Umar Gul speaks out over alleged fight reports
The bowling coach of Pakistan’s cricket team, Umar Gul, recently broke his silence over the alleged reports of his fight with Shaheen Shah Afridi. He dismissed the claims by saying that it was a misunderstanding.
Speaking during a press conference on May 18, Umar Gul said that he was tagged in a social media post, in which it was claimed that Shaheen Afridi was not listening to the coach’s instructions.
