Kylian Mbappe, the forward for France, was the first to win two FIFA World Cup Golden Boot awards for being the tournament’s top scorer, with 10 goals.
His win was confirmed after Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in Sunday’s final at East Rutherford, N.J.
Mbappe netted twice in France’s 6-4 loss in the third-place playoff vs England, bringing his total to 10 goals.
Only Argentina captain Lionel Messi was the last remaining contender but he failed to score a goal in the final.
Spain’s defence was extremely strong, and Argentina was only able to get two shots, neither of which was able to transform into a goal.
The 27-year-old Mbappe added to his legacy by becoming the top World Cup goal scorer after scoring 22 goals in 22 appearances, surpassing Messi’s 21 goals.

Eight of Mbappe’s goals in the tournament were in four separate efforts and he joined Germany’s Gerd Muller (1970) as the first player to register 10 goals in a World Cup.
Spain also won the top individual awards in the tournament, with several of their players picking up the top individual awards.
Midfielder Rodri was the best player of the tournament, having impressed in every minute he played on Spain’s title winning campaign and won the Golden Ball award.
Rodri was not on target or involved in any goals but did a fantastic job in the tournament in terms of his involvement, distance covered and passing.
Goalkeeper Unai Simon scored a new World Cup record with seven clean sheets to win the Golden Glove, while teenager defender Pau Cubarsi won the FIFA Best Young Player award.
Only one goal was scored against Spain. 10 shots were taken against Spain across eight matches. This demonstrates one of the best World Cup performances ever.
