Residents across Mirpur Division have opted to exercise their constitutional and democratic right to vote instead of responding to calls for protests, with polling continuing peacefully across the region.
In spite of the fourth protest call by Awami Action Committee, which called for a protest on July 27, the voters responded with a good turnout towards the electoral process, preferring to settle political issues through the ballot box.

Polling started at 8:00 am, and people started coming to polling stations early in the day to vote. Election activity has been peaceful with a gradual increase in voter participation reported in the division.
The overall public reaction shows a strong preference for exercising their political voice through the constitution and democratic process, increasing trust in the electoral process, rather than exercising their voice through demonstrations and unrest.
The general elections 2026 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are currently in their first phase. The elections are underway across 13 constituencies of the Mirpur division.
The division has more than 1.5 million registered voters who are and will cast their ballots today.
