Much awaited monsoon rain reached Karachi on Friday and brought heavy showers to many parts of the city.

The rain first started in Gulshan e Maymar, Manghopir, and Gulshan e Iqbal before spreading to other areas.
Heavy rainfall was later reported in North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Nooriabad, and near the M 9 Kathore area as well.
Light rain was also recorded in PECHS, Tariq Road, Bahadurabad, Nursery, Chanesar Goth, Saddar, M.A. Jinnah Road, and DHA.

The rain also caused power outages in different parts of the city. Around 100 K Electric feeders tripped, leaving many areas without electricity. This includes Gulshan e Maymar and Manghopir.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the monsoon system entered Karachi from the Kirthar Mountains. It brought strong winds along with heavy rain in some areas.
Which KP districts are at flood risk?
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high alert for eight districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because of the risk of glacial lake outburst floods and flash floods.
The districts at risk include Chitral, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, Swat, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Mansehra. The PDMA said water levels in rivers, streams, and seasonal nullahs could rise quickly.
Officials have been asked to complete evacuation plans for Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Mansehra if needed.
The PDMA warned that heavy rainfall and fast glacier melting could increase the flow of water in rivers and streams. This could raise the risk of flooding, especially in mountain areas.
The PDMA has asked deputy commissioners in the affected districts to keep a close watch on places that are more likely to flood.
They have also been told to make sure that early warning systems are working so people can receive alerts on time.
