The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has changed the payment method for passport fees. Applicants are now required to pay their fees through the designated Raast QR code.
According to a public notice issued by DGIP, applicants must scan the Raast QR code to make their passport fee payment.
IBFT, IBAN and PSID payments changed
DGIP has clarified that some previously available passport fee payment methods will no longer be accepted.
These include Interbank Fund Transfer (IBFT) payments made through an International Bank Account Number (IBAN).
Payments made through a Payment Slip Identification (PSID) using Passport Fee Asaan will also not be accepted under the new instructions.
Applicants must pay their passport fees by scanning the designated Raast QR code.
DGIP has advised applicants to carefully follow the updated payment procedure. Using other payment methods may cause problems when payments are processed or verified.
The official Passport Fee Asaan app previously listed PSID payments through ATMs, internet banking and 1-Link member bank branches among its payment options.
Passport verification process to be improved
Previously, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar recently directed authorities to make passport and other document verification easier, faster and more efficient for overseas Pakistanis.
The directions were issued during a meeting of the Committee on Passport Rules. Officials from the Interior Ministry, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Passport Department and other relevant institutions attended the meeting.
Tarar described overseas Pakistanis as an important asset to the country. He stressed the need to improve existing procedures for them.
He also directed authorities to develop an integrated system for the timely verification of passports, travel documents and other important documents belonging to overseas Pakistanis.
