Rising Pakistani cricketer Shamyl Hussain has taken delivery of a new all-electric BMW i4 eDrive35 from BMW Pakistan and Dewan Motors. According to media reports, the young batter, who represents Quetta Gladiators, has added the premium electric vehicle to his collection as he continues to make his mark in Pakistani cricket.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan’s rising cricket stars Azan Owais and Shamyl Hussain led the run-scoring charts with impressive performances in the recent Shaheens series against England in the month of August 2025. Pakistan Shaheens, led by national Test team vice-captain Saud Shakeel, won the three-match ODI series 2-1, while the two three-day matches ended in draws due to rain.
The series was played at venues in Kent, Hove and Canterbury, where the young Pakistani players maintained their grip on the matches through consistency and strong partnerships. Azan Owais was the leading run-scorer, accumulating 276 runs in seven innings, while Shamyl Hussain, who did not feature in the first two matches, scored 193 runs in five innings at an average of around 39.
In the decisive third ODI, the pair put together a partnership of more than 100 runs, laying the foundation for Pakistan Shaheens’ successful chase of 261 and turning the match in their favour. The three-day matches were heavily affected by rain. However, Rohail Nazir and Ali Zaryab scored centuries, while Aamir Hamza, Obaid Shah, Musa Khan and Miran Mumtaz impressed with the ball.
Azan and Shamyl also earned recognition for their batting performances across the series. According to the PCB website, Shamyl was the leading run-scorer for Pakistan Shaheens in the three-match ODI series.
Shamyl Hussain finished second in the overall series run-scoring charts behind England’s Luc Benkenstein, who scored 197 runs. Other notable performers included Ali Zaryab (166), Haider Ali (159), Rohail Nazir (136), Saud Shakeel (128) and Muhammad Suleman, while Umair Bin Yousuf (77) and Moaz Sadaqat (61) also made valuable contributions. Shamyl recorded a strike rate of 74, compared with Azan’s 53, highlighting the contrast in their batting styles. Shamyl impressed with his attractive stroke play, while Azan stood out for his patience and consistency.
