US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports claiming that talks between the United States and Iran had stopped, insisting that discussions between the two sides have continued without interruption.
In a post on social media, Trump described reports suggesting that Washington and Tehran had ceased communication as “false and erroneous.” He said contacts between the two countries had taken place continuously over recent days, including today.
“Fake news reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the USA stopped speaking a few days ago are false and erroneous,” Trump wrote. “The conversations between us have been going on continuously, including four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today.”
Donald Trump acknowledged that the outcome of the discussions remains uncertain but stressed that Iran must make a decision regarding a potential agreement with the United States.
Trump said he had conveyed a clear message to Tehran, urging Iranian leaders to finalise a deal. “It’s time, one way or another, for you to make a deal,” he stated, adding that the issue had remained unresolved for decades.
His remarks come amid continued international attention on US-Iran relations and ongoing efforts to address disputes surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme and broader regional issues.
While Trump did not provide details about the nature of the discussions, his comments appeared aimed at countering speculation that diplomatic contacts had broken down.
The statement is likely to fuel further debate over the future of US-Iran relations, as both sides continue to face pressure to find a diplomatic path forward despite longstanding tensions.
