The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has warned citizens to be careful of fake tracking IDs and misleading information on social media platforms.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, tracking IDs will not be provided through comments on social media due to concerns about protecting people’s personal information.
Citizens have also been asked not to share their tracking IDs or other sensitive information in comments on NADRA’s social media accounts.
NADRA advised citizens to use only official sources and verified platforms for identity documents and other NADRA-related matters.
People have also been told not to trust unverified social media accounts, links or messages.
Citizens can check tracking ID information through the SMS service by sending a message to 8400. They can also contact the NADRA helpline at 051-111-786-100 or dial 1777 from a mobile phone. NADRA services are also available through the Pak ID mobile app.
NADRA has again advised citizens not to share their identity or personal information on social media. People should also verify any links or messages received from unverified sources before taking any action.
Special facilitation measures for senior citizens
Previously, NADRA introduced a special home service for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
According to NADRA, people who cannot easily visit a NADRA centre can book an appointment and ask a NADRA Biker to visit their home.
The service allows them to renew or update their National Identity Card without going to a NADRA office.
The service is currently available in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Taxila, Wah Cantt, Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad.
To book an appointment, applicants can call NADRA’s helpline at 051-111-786-100 or dial 1777 from a mobile phone.
Earlier, NADRA also introduced a facility to make the passport process easier through digital identity verification.
Under the facility, citizens applying for passports can verify their identity using their digital identity card through the Pak ID mobile application. This is especially useful for people who do not have a physical identity card.
