Football Sensation Cristiano Ronaldo, has indicated that 2026 may be the end of his remarkable professional journey.
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr and Portugal forward, who has been at the top of the game for over 20 years, admitted that retirement is indeed in the near future.
Ronaldo has now suggested in a recent interview that this season may be the last season before retirement.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said that his love for football can never be taken away, but, as with any sport, to play at the international level a player must be physically fit to a certain level.
“This is very likely going to be my last year as a footballer,” Ronaldo added, emphasising that he has done all that he can in the game but that he’s not afraid to listen to his body.

Despite a strong possibility of retirement, Ronaldo seems to be keen on ending his career strongly.
It is anticipated that he will carry on playing for Al-Nassr and on the international level, represent Portugal till he officially retires.
He is keen to win more trophies for Al-Nassr, keep fit and pass on his knowledge to younger players, at both club and international level.
If Ronaldo does indeed retire, it will mark the end of a very decorated career in football. He has won the UEFA Champions League with Manchester United and Real Madrid and also has won league championships in England, Spain and Italy.
He has also won the UEFA Euro 2016 with Portugal, and the first UEFA Nations League in 2019. He’s also the all-time goal-scoring leader in professional football history.
If he does retire at the end of the 2026 season, then football will have to say goodbye to one of the all-time bests.
