The rain on Monday comes after a gap of about a week, with residents experiencing cooler conditions following the showers.
Weather forecasts indicate a continued possibility of rain and thunderstorms in Islamabad and surrounding areas, with a chance of further showers during the coming days.
The forecast also points to rain activity in parts of the wider Potohar region and northern Punjab, including Rawalpindi and nearby areas.

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to experience hot and humid weather. However, during the evening and night, rain and hailstorms accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms are expected in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Kohat, Kurram, Bajaur, Mohmand and Khyber.
In Punjab, most districts will remain hot and humid. However, during the evening and night, isolated rain accompanied by strong winds, dust storms and thunderstorms is expected in Murree, the Galiyat region, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Sialkot, Khushab, Sargodha, Dera Ghazi Khan and adjoining areas.
Most districts of Sindh will also remain hot and humid. In southeastern areas, partly cloudy conditions are expected, while Tharparkar, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Thatta and adjoining areas may receive rain accompanied by strong winds, dust storms and thunderstorms during the evening and night. Heavy rainfall and hailstorms are also expected at a few places.
Most districts of Balochistan will remain hot and humid, while coastal areas are expected to remain partly cloudy. However, Zhob, Musa Khel and Barkhan may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms during the afternoon.
Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir are expected to remain partly cloudy, with rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms likely at isolated places during the evening and night.
