The Balochistan government has approved a 7 per cent Ad Hoc Relief Allowance for all permanent government employees from Grade 1 to Grade 22 on Tuesday. The allowance will be effective from July 1, 2026.
According to the details, the allowance will be 7 per cent of each employee’s current basic salary. This means that the amount will vary depending on the employee’s grade and pay. The Finance Department has issued an official notification confirming the decision.
The Finance Department said that the allowance will be taxable. Additionally, the income tax will be deducted according to the law.
The notification also states that the allowance will be paid separately with the monthly salary and will not become part of the basic pay. In addition to this, it will not be included when calculating pension, gratuity, or other retirement benefits.
Employees on extraordinary leave will also not receive the allowance during their leave. But it will be restored once they return to duty, according to the rules.
The provincial government has directed all departments and accounts officers to implement the decision immediately.
Salary payments will be prepared after considering each employee’s grade, current basic salary, tax deductions, and leave record to ensure the allowance is paid correctly.
Govt eases time scale promotion process
The federal government has made it easier for employees in Grades 1 to 16 to receive time scale promotions under a revised policy, according to reports on Monday.
The Ministry of Finance has issued a new clarification to remove confusion about the time scale policy. It has also directed all federal ministries and related departments to implement the new instructions.
Under the revised policy, eligible federal employees who have completed 10 years of service can now qualify for their first time scale promotion. The move is expected to benefit employees who have remained in the same post for many years.
