Court grants bail to Falak over alleged fake video case

The Lahore High Court has granted bail to PTI social media activist Falak Javed, who was arrested over allegations of circulating a fake video involving Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari.

The bail hearing was conducted by Justice Shahram Sarwar Chaudhry, while Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq appeared in court as counsel for the accused. Further legal proceedings in the case are expected to continue.

The court also directed the accused to submit a surety bond of Rs 100,000. The Federal Investigation Agency Cyber Crime Wing had registered a case against Falak Javed and others for allegedly making and spreading a fake video of Uzma Bukhari. Falak Javed had been under arrest in this case since September 24, 2025.

It is mentioned here that the main case against him was registered by Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari with the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing in 2024. Apart from him, at least six other people are also involved in this case.

According to the FIR, Uzma Bukhari alleged that a fake and fabricated obscene video related to her was uploaded on Facebook by some social media accounts on the intervening night of May 24 and 25.

In the application submitted to the FIA, she further alleged that the video was subsequently shared by several accounts on another social media platform, X, and was further circulated there.

She named about 25 X (formerly Twitter) handles in her complaint, including one account belonging to Falak Javed. Uzma Bukhari told the FIA that the video was shared and circulated on X and several Facebook accounts with the intention of defaming and maligning her.
