Lahore Police has introduced a stricter social media policy for its officers to prevent misuse of authority and inappropriate online behaviour, according to reports on Friday.

Under the new rules, SHOs, inspectors, sub inspectors, and assistant sub inspectors have been directed to remove offensive pictures from their personal social media accounts.
Police officials have also been asked to check their online profiles. And if they have already posted any offensive content, they have been asked to delete it.
According to the new policy, officers are not allowed to upload offensive pictures on personal accounts on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
In addition to this, they are also not allowed to post photos or videos in police uniform while doing personal activities.
Lahore Police said that the purpose of this step is to maintain discipline and stop the misuse of the police uniform on social media.
The department has clarified that photos and videos in uniform can only be shared through official police accounts. Officers are not allowed to use personal accounts for such content on social media.
Officials have also warned that strict action will be taken against any officer who breaks the rules. It has been further warned that violations can even lead to departmental proceedings.
Lahore traffic police launches crackdown
Previously, the traffic police started a citywide operation in Lahore to target underage and unlicensed drivers. The police declared that strict actions would be taken against those who violate traffic laws.
Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi stated that vehicles and motorcycles operated by underage drivers would be confiscated and transported to police stations, in addition to the issuance of fines.
He mentioned that drivers of cars with learner permits or expired licenses in Lahore would face a penalty of Rs5,000. In addition to this, motorcycle operators would be given a fine of Rs2,000 for similar violations.
