US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not be arrested on any of his visits to the US, referring to recent comments by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani regarding the enforcement of the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant for Netanyahu.

During a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that Netanyahu would not get arrested “in any way, shape, or form” while being in the US.
While he didn’t name Mamdani, Trump also singled out Israel for praise on its “beautiful job” during the recent standoff with Iran.
The comments came after Mamdani, who became New York City Mayor in January, said that the city’s legal department would be studying its options on what it could do if Netanyahu were to visit.
In an interview with The New York Times, Mamdani repeated his campaign promise that the New York Police Department would capture the Israeli leader if he did come to the US city.
He called Netanyahu a “war criminal” and says he should be tried in The Hague.

Netanyahu regularly travels to New York to address the annual United Nations’ General Assembly in September.
Israel strongly rejected Mamdani’s comments, branding the ICC a “kangaroo court” and its arrest warrant politically-motivated.
Israeli authorities hit the mayor in an X post for redirecting the people’s attention from New York’s domestic issues to Israel’s leadership.
The ICC, which is based in The Hague, was originally set up in 2002 to investigate and prosecute genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
It issued an arrest warrant in 2024 for Netanyahu for alleged war crimes related to the Gaza conflict.
Israel refutes the claims and argues that the court has no jurisdiction and that Israel and the United States are not members of the ICC.
