In the dramatic World Cup Final, Spain won the FIFA World Cup 2026, but more importantly, it was the US President Donald Trump who took over the online conversations.
It was the first time Trump had ever been at a FIFA World Cup match and he sat on the FIFA podium with President Infantino to present the trophy to the winning Spanish side.
The trophy was given to Spain after their historic victory but social media users started wondering about the US president’s behaviour during the ceremony.
Once the trophy was given to the Spanish team, Trump stayed on the stage and watched the Spanish players celebrate their triumph.

The footage of the ceremony revealed a moment in which Infantino seemed to signal the US president to remove himself from the stage as the team hoisted the trophy, but Trump briefly remained on the stage while the team carried up the trophy.

He also did a shortened version of Trump dance for the jubilant players before exiting the stage.
The moment immediately went viral, with many poking fun at Trump’s choice of staying in the limelight during the celebration in Spain.
A few users also expressed criticism of the president for his actions, which they argued were inappropriate and disrespectful, especially considering it was Spain’s moment of celebration.
Others said that the attention should have been on the newly crowned World Champions and not the US President.
Trump had earlier received a barrage of boos from people in the crowd when he was welcomed onto the pitch before the trophy presentation, creating another controversial moment in his first trip to a FIFA World Cup final.
