The president of the United States (US), Donald Trump, has said today that Iran is eager to make a deal. He also warned that the US may launch another attack if no agreement is reached.
Speaking to reporters, President Trump said Iran still has a limited ability to respond. He said the US could carry out strikes in the next few days, possibly on Friday, Saturday, or early next week.
Trump said Iran would have to face a “big hit” and added that the situation would become clear soon.
The US President also said he was only one hour away from ordering an attack on Iran on Monday.
He said he cannot say with certainty whether another attack will happen. But he warned that military action remains possible if talks fail.
Trump repeated that Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear weapons.
He also said US warships carrying missiles and other weapons were ready before he stepped back from launching new attacks.
Talking about religion, Trump said that he believes that religion is important for a country because it helps reduce crime.
He also accused Iran of using the Strait of Hormuz as a military tool for the past 47 years.
Speaking on Cuba, Trump said he does not know about regime change there, but added that the country needs help.
Trump says US will ‘hold off’ Iran attack
Trump said on Monday that he would “hold off” an attack on Iran that was reportedly planned for Tuesday after requests from Gulf leaders.
Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that “serious negotiations” were taking place with Iran and that Gulf countries believed “a deal will be made.”
“I have been asked by the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to hold off on our planned Military attack of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was scheduled for tomorrow,” he said.
