If you hold a United Arab Emirates (UAE) residence or tourist visa and are unsure whether it is still valid or nearing expiry, immigration authorities provide fast online services that allow you to check your visa status within seconds.
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a 30-day grace period for individuals affected by exceptional regional circumstances. During this period, eligible individuals can regularise their visa status or leave the UAE without facing penalties.
The grace period will remain in effect until July 9, 2026, and applies to individuals who were previously exempted from overstay fines after being unable to leave the UAE due to regional disruptions.
If your visa was affected by recent regional developments and you have not yet regularised your status, here is how you can check it online:
For Visas Issued in Dubai
If your entry permit or residence visa was issued in Dubai, you can check its validity through the official website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai.
- Visit the GDRFA website and select the visa status service from the homepage.
- Choose your preferred search method, such as:
- Application number
- File number
- Over-the-counter service applications
- Special requests
- Establishment details
- Enter the required information according to your selected search option.
- If using a file number, provide your first name, file number, nationality, and date of birth.
- The file number can be found on your UAE residence visa document and is also available through the UAE Pass app.
- For tourists, the file number is listed on the entry permit document.
- Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
- Click Search to view your visa details.
For Visas Issued in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah
Visa holders whose permits were issued in other emirates can check their status through the ICP online services platform.
Steps to check visa status through ICP:
- Visit the ICP online services platform.
- Select Public Services from the menu and click File Validity.
- Choose a search method:
- File number
- Passport information
- Select your visa type:
- Residency for residence visas
- Visa for visit visas
- Enter one of the following details:
- Unified ID number
- File number (available on the visa sticker or e-visa)
- Emirates ID number
- Passport number
- Enter your date of birth.
- Complete the CAPTCHA verification.
- Click Search.
Once the search is completed, the system will display key visa information, including:
- File number
- Unified ID number
- Visa file status
- Visa issuance date
- Visa expiry date
These online services enable UAE residents and visitors to quickly verify their visa validity and take timely action if renewal or status adjustment is required.
