Sindh govt announces 500 EV buses, 50 double deckers

The Sindh government has announced plans to add 500 electric buses and 50 double decker buses to the public transport system, according to reports today. The move is part of its plan to improve transport services across the province.

The announcement was made during a meeting led by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials reviewed the progress of transport projects and discussed the need for new bus depots and better facilities.

Speaking at the meeting, Memon said the government wants to provide people with modern, comfortable, affordable and environment friendly transport.

He said that 500 electric buses and 50 double-decker buses will soon become part of the transport network.

The minister directed deputy commissioners across Sindh to identify government land for new bus depots.

He also told all concerned departments to complete the required work as soon as possible so the project can move forward without delays.

Memon said that the proper facilities must be ready before the new buses begin operating. He added that the buses are expected to start running soon.

The new plan is part of the government’s efforts to improve public transport. In recent years, Karachi has introduced electric buses on different routes to make travel easier and reduce pollution.

Officials believe the new buses will increase the number of public transport vehicles, help reduce traffic and support cleaner travel across Sindh.

Memon said the project will bring a major improvement to the province’s transport system. He added that it will give millions of passengers safer, more reliable and better travel options.

Murree gets green transport boost

The Punjab government has launched the Green Electric Metro Bus Service in Murree on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The new electric bus service will provide tourists and local residents with a safe, affordable and comfortable way to travel.

According to the government, the fare has been set at Rs30 per trip. Women, children under five years of age and senior citizens can travel free of charge.
