The World Bank, in collaboration with Japan, has announced fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students under the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) 2026.
The prestigious program offers fully funded master’s degree opportunities to students from developing countries, including Pakistan, aiming to promote education, capacity building, and economic development through global exposure.
Global study opportunity
The scholarship allows students to pursue higher education at top international institutions across the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan. Partner universities include renowned institutions such as University of Oxford, Stanford University, London School of Economics, Columbia University, and Australian National University.
Fully funded benefits
The JJ/WBGSP scholarship covers:
- Full tuition fees
- Round-trip airfare
- Monthly stipend for living expenses
- Medical insurance
- Travel allowance
The program duration is up to two years and is designed to support students in development-related fields.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Be nationals of eligible developing countries, including Pakistan
- Hold a bachelor’s degree obtained at least three years before applying
- Have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience
- Not be employees or close relatives of World Bank staff

How to apply
Candidates must first secure admission to a participating master’s program. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to apply for the scholarship through the official portal, along with required documents and recommendation letters.

The application deadline for the first window of the 2026 program is May 29, 2026.
Earlier, the government of Kazakhstan also opened applications for its 2026 scholarship programme, offering Pakistani students a good opportunity to pursue higher education abroad.
According to details, the Kazakhstan Government Scholarship 2026 is now accepting applications for studies at leading universities across the country, many of which are ranked in global listings such as the QS World University Rankings.
